Cylindrical roller bearings with cage
Cylindrical roller bearings are used in all types of electric motors where the radial load carrying capacity of a deep groove ball bearing would be insufficient, for example, in larger electric motors.
There are, however, only specific types of bearings that can support axial forces.
The different types are:
|NU||Inner ring without rib, non-locating bearing, supports radial forces only|
|N||Outer ring without rib, non-locating bearing, supports radial forces only|
|NJ||Ribs on the outer ring, one rib on the inner ring, semi-locating bearing, supports axial forces in one direction|
|NUP||Supports axial forces in both directions, locating bearing|
|NJ + HJ||NJ bearing with additional L-section ring, supports axial forces in both directions|
The product range of the Schaeffler Group comprises cylindrical roller bearings with an inside diameter from 15 mm (N202) to larger than 700 mm (NU19/710).
Cylindrical roller bearings are available unsealed only. They are lubricated on the end face. Cylindrical roller bearings generate more noise than deep groove ball bearings due to their kinematics. A cylindrical roller bearing must always be subjected to a radial load of at least 2 % of the dynamic load rating to prevent slippage and, thus, noise and damage.
