Primary drive

Sprockets form the link between shafts and chains. They must not only ensure a reliable shaft/hub connection with shafts of different geometries but their tooth profile must be ideally matched to the chain used. This is the only way to ensure reliable operation with low wear and low noise. Chains of different designs (e.g. roller, sleeve or toothed chain) and pitch (e.g. 6,35mm, 8mm, 9,525mm) as well as single and duplex chains are possible. In the selection of material and production process for the sprockets, account must be taken of the load occurring, the geometry to be achieved and cost-effectiveness. In principle, a distinction is drawn between the following types:

  • fine blanked sprockets
  • sprockets made from sintered metal
  • sprockets produced by cutting methods
  • forged / extruded sprockets
